The damage
survey is typically conducted for the claims
department of an insurance company to allow them to
make coverage determinations in the event of a claim.
These surveys are also conducted for boat owners
and law firms for special needs. A boat owner
may, in the event of an accident, want an outside
perspective of the damage to confirm any analysis made
by either the repair company or the insurance
company’s representative. The damage survey
typically includes a description of the loss event,
the extent of the damage, analysis of the cost of
repair, and a determination as to the cause of loss.
